While I had taken a creative writing class, I was surprised by the amount of sci fi writers. I never cared much about zombies and vampires. Ghosts may be acceptable, but only maybe. And even then, they tended to be a bit too cheesy for me.

But then I thought, wouldn't it then be a challenge as a writer to think of a sci fi story that hasn't been done before? Where the story doesn't revolve around the apocalypse or a vampire falling in love with a human?

So I thought and I thought, and honestly, I'm still thinking. But I may be on to something. A zombie dressed in a mascot outfit! Ehh-ehhhh...? If I want it to be a "locally-based" story, I could even put my character in some kind of Menehune mascot costume. Not sure what direction I'd take, but I'm into interesting characters. POV of the zombie in a suit would be taken, of course.

We'll see where this takes me.

OH HAI

Perhaps it's nearing my time of the month. Perhaps I simply really miss writing. In either case, a professor I recently caught up with told me I should keep writing, whether it be for money or myself. "It's a bitch, but you gotta do it. It'll make you go crazy. It'll make you go insane. But you'll end up being one hell of a writer before you know it."

And he's right. Well, maybe not the "one hell of a writer" bit, but writing's always been an outlet and I'm so jealous of people who seem so able to spill their guts out on the table. Better yet, I'm jealous when someone can spill their guts in a few words and have all kinds of humorous and sad and enlightening and real, relatable emotions.

Good writing's good.

But good writing also requires practice.

Here

goes

nothin'.

It's been over a year since I posted on this thing, and it's sad to say that so little has changed. I need to get on that!
